Queen Victoria Building Sydney
The Queen Victoria Building may not be Sydney’s most iconic building, but it may just be the most historic. A gorgeous façade in the Romanesque Revival architecture style, the QVB, as it is affectionately known, is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the city. Guests of Sheraton on The Park can make their way to this beautiful display of classical architecture nearby within minutes.
Constructed by renowned architect George McRae as a marketplace, the modern day QVB retains the spirit of the original with a modern shopping experience entwined with the historical building. Restored and renovated over the last century, the Queen Victoria Building has rediscovered its beauty which was lost after many years of falling into disrepair. The QVB is once again thriving, and what previously were small market stalls are now world famous boutique and upmarket stores.
The Royal Clock
Whilst most visitors to the city may hope to do a bit of shopping, The QVB provides so much more. Exploring the building, the boutique shops and gourmet food on offer is what makes this place truly unique. Rest assured that you will never be able to forget the time, given the Royal Clock that adorns the southern-most half of the building. With each passing hour, the clock takes centre stage showcasing a scene of English royal history that illuminates the surroundings.
Shopping at QVB
The Queen Victoria Building may just be Sydney’s most beautiful shopping destination. Its classical architecture complete with breathtaking domes over luxurious boutiques and cafes are sure to make any shopper long to return. With 180 boutiques of high fashion labels and well-known brands spread across 4 floors, avid shoppers will certainly have enough stores to last the entire day. And yet, if 180 stores are not enough, simply make your way to the underground arcade which will take you to Myer, the department store next door.
